Scholarships
The scholarships awarded to contestants competing for the title of Miss Texas are based on a rich scholastic tradition which has been the cornerstone of the Miss America program since 1945. Today, educational advancement, achievement, and public service continue to be the primary objectives for both the Miss America and Miss Texas Organizations in the face of changing roles for women in American society.

The Miss America Organization is one of the nation’s leading achievement programs and the world’s largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women. In 2003, the Miss America Organization and its state and local organizations made available more than $45 million in cash and scholarship assistance.

In 2002, the Miss Texas Organization and its local pageants provided over $2.5 million of these in cash and in-kind tuition scholarships.

Most recently, the Miss Texas Organization has become a source of scholarship funds for exceptional young men in high school. Since 1993 the Miss Texas Organization has awarded two $1000.00 scholarship to outstanding high school senior men.

Scholarship funds are contributed by corporate sponsors and individuals who commit their support to the professional advancement of young men and women. There are many levels of participation available to anyone who wishes to support the scholarship fund.
