Cash Contributions and Sponsorships
Cash donations are a major source of scholarship funds for local and state Miss Texas programs. They take several different forms:
The purchase of advertisements in a local or state pageant program book, sponsorship of the televised state pageant or participation through sponsorship of a titleholders year of service.
Direct monetary donations to a specific Miss Texas program or scholarship fund. Contributors have the option of earmarking their funds for a specific Miss Texas program or purpose, or they can create their own Miss Texas scholarships, naming them after their businesses, themselves, or other organizations and individuals. Funds also can be contributed to help cover local and state Miss Texas programs operating costs, such as office and equipment rental, telephone, food service, travel for titleholders and other expenses.
In-Kind Goods & Services
Donations of products, services and time are equally valuable to Miss Texas programs. In fact, most local and state programs fulfill as many needs as possible through in-kind rather than monetary donations from businesses, organizations and private citizens. These types of arrangements can be structured any number of ways. Examples include:
A print shop that provides free printing of pageant tickets and program books, a tailor who helps alter contestants costumes for stage productions, or a local restaurant that provides food for contestants during state competition all in exchange for acknowledgement in a program book or on stage by the master of ceremonies during a local or state pageant.
A local theater, high school or performing arts studio that donates its facility for a pageant in exchange for subsequent appearances by Miss Texas or local titleholders (Doing so also draws consumers into your place of business).
A local real estate or insurance company that donates its office space and phones for a fundraising drive in exchange for a sponsorship credit on all written materials and correspondence.
A Chamber of Commerce, local business or civic organization that runs a local pageant in exchange for the positive exposure it receives through its association with the Miss Texas program.
